Press Release
New Version of the Sonifex PC-FM Radio Capture Card is Available Sept 2023
05 September 2023
Sonifex have been manufacturing a range of radio capture cards for over 10 years, having adapted a design from the Australian company Innes Corporation. These PCIe cards are able to accept AM, FM and DAB signals, up to 32 channels in the case of AM/FM and up to 4 full ensembles for DAB+.
Due to component obsolescence and ongoing issues procuring certain chipsets, the PC-FM card has been redesigned, offering the same high standard RF reception and audio sign paths. An aerial input on each card takes the RF signal, with the frequency of each station set in software and the audio appearing as a standard Windows/Linux audio input device. RDS decoding is also supported.
Drivers have been fully implemented for Windows and Linux, with RDS being available on both platforms now. A programming API and DLL for software control and monitoring are also supplied.
The card can be configured to operate in stereo, mono or paired mono (two mono stations combined on a 2-channel audio stream) modes and multiple cards can be used in a single PC, subject to available CPU bandwidth.
Managing Director Marcus Brooke commented: “The PC-FM card has been hugely popular and is totally unique in design. There’s no other card that can produce 32 audio outputs from one RF aerial input, so it made sense to redesign the card and add features to it.”

The new PC-FM card is available in October 2023.
