Press Release
Service Electric Network Sportscasting Using Sonifex AVN-CU2 Commentary Units
04 September 2022
Joel Seem, Associate & Audio Engineer for the Service Electric Network and Service Electric Cable TV, Inc, recently bought from Sonifex six AVN-CU2-DANTE configurable Dante commentary units (for 2commentators). These were acquired specifically for use in the areas of Sports caster, Commentator and the Announcer Communication Box.
The Service Electric Network has been accredited with Emmy award-winning production standards, and produces multiple studio shows and year-round live coverage of local sports, entertainment, and special events. The Service Electric Cable TV, Inc. is a successor corporation to a community antenna television business started by John Walson in June 1948 and became the U.S.A.’s first community antenna television system, later known as cable television, in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. Walson's pioneering achievements were recognized by the Congress of the United States and the National Cable Television Association in the spring of 1979.
The AVN-CU2-DANTE takes a new approach to provide a multi-purpose configurable tool for commentary teams. Its power lies in the impressive mix engine which overlays the usual Dante® Controller settings. Once Dante® flows have been made, inputs and outputs can be mixed freely to AoIPor physical inputs and outputs, controlled using the programmable buttons and rotary encoders, which control the gain and pan of inputs, outputs or cross-points, allowing total flexibility for different situations.
It can be used in any number of different commentary situations, controlled manually or remotely and controls can be ‘locked down’ so that they can’t be tampered with or altered, to guarantee reliable operation.
