RM-X-64-DNT
64 Channel Dante & MADI Reference Monitor, with Input Expansion
Designed for modern broadcast, live production, and critical audio environments, the RM-X-64-DNT reference monitor range delivers uncompromising flexibility and reliability in a compact 1U form factor. As standard, the unit features seamless Dante AoIP and MADI integration, intuitive control, fast source selection, and full redundancy, serving as the monitoring backbone of any professional workflow.
At its core, the unit supports up to 128 channels of simultaneous monitoring, combining 64 channels of Dante AoIP and 64 channels of MADI via BNC connections. With seamless integration into AoIP-enabled networks, the units fit effortlessly into complex, networked audio infrastructures. Two modular expansion slots further enhance flexibility, enabling support for additional sources in any combination to suit specific workflow requirements. Expansion options include 8-channel analogue inputs, 8 stereo digital inputs (16 channels), or up to 64 channels of de-embedded audio from 12G-SDI, allowing the system to be precisely tailored to individual applications. Fully configured with both expansion slots populated by 12G-SDI cards, this device can support monitoring of up to 256 channels.
Control and usability are central to the unit’s design. A vibrant 6.6-inch colour touchscreen provides fast, intuitive access to metering and system configuration, complemented by rotary encoders for accurate adjustment of key parameters. The display supports up to 64 channels of visual monitoring per source, with a streamlined interface that allows you to swipe left or right to move quickly between sources. Individual channel selection via the rotary encoder ensures precise control when building monitor mixes from any source, with a press-and-hold function for soloing. A double press brings up a detailed meter view with enlarged level displays for faster and clearer monitoring. A swipe-up gesture reveals user-defined metering groups, enabling easy access to multi-source monitoring or critical channel groupings. Up to 26 pages of metering groups can be created and named, with quick access via the “Favourites” menu for fast and efficient recall.
It offers comprehensive metering compatible with multiple PPM standards, including BBC, EBU, DIN, and Nordic scales. Meter ballistics are fully configurable, featuring both Type I, Type II and Type II slow quasi-peak responses. Fast attack times and carefully controlled decay ensure precise peak detection while maintaining clear, operator-friendly readability. Parametric and graphic EQ features are accessible directly through on-screen menus, enabling rapid and precise audio tuning. The parametric EQ provides five fully configurable bands operating on a logarithmic frequency scale, with additional high-shelf and low-shelf filters for broad-spectrum tonal shaping. The graphic EQ offers 15-band equalisation, offering 5 user-definable and storable pre-sets alongside dedicated factory-default response curves for immediate recall. Integrated high-pass and low-pass filters are also provided for effective bandwidth limiting and signal conditioning.
The units are equally capable in their output performance. Integrated front-panel speakers with machined grilles deliver accurate acoustics, with ported enclosures maximising performance within the compact 1U form factor. A stereo analogue/digital output on professional Neutrik XLR connectors allows connection to local or remote speaker systems, while front-panel ¼” and 3.5 mm headphone outputs provide convenient access for detailed listening, particularly in noisy environments.
A built-in front-panel microphone provides convenient talkback routing over the AoIP network, with mic control (open/close) available directly on the unit, via the web GUI, or through Ember+.
In addition, six AoIP channels can be routed from the unit, mirroring the stereo analogue and digital line outputs, headphones (L+R), and integrated speakers (L+R). This allows monitored audio to be carried over the network for group listening or further audio processing.
Full web GUI access enables system management from anywhere, making the units ideally suited to OB trucks, control rooms, and distributed facilities. Connectivity and integration have been carefully considered, with dual network ports that can operate in switched or redundant modes, as well as dual SFP ports for fibre connectivity and additional redundancy options. The unit includes configurable GPIO ports and a voltage-free relay contact, enabling seamless integration with external systems and custom control setups. Reliability is further enhanced through redundant power inputs, supporting both AC mains and 12V DC operation with automatic switchover to ensure uninterrupted performance in mission-critical environments.
To summarise, combining reference-quality monitoring, extensive input flexibility, and powerful AoIP integration, the RM-X-64-DNT provides a future-proof solution for professional audio environments. With integrated speakers, headphone amplification, external outputs, and robust redundancy throughout, these units deliver the control, precision, and confidence required in today’s increasingly networked workflows.
