Coming Soon – The New RM-X-64 1U AoIP Monitoring Powerhouse

Dante or RAVENNA/AES67, MADI monitoring, plus expansion options for analogue/digital and SDI sources.

Designed for modern broadcast, live production, and critical audio environments, the RM-X-64 reference monitor range delivers uncompromising flexibility and reliability in a compact 1U form factor. As standard, the unit features seamless AoIP and MADI integration, intuitive touchscreen control, fast source selection, and full redundancy, serving as the monitoring backbone of any professional workflow.

Ideal for OB vehicles, the unit operates as a compact, high-density, mission-critical monitoring hub where space is limited, with a rear depth of under 20 cm (8 inches), excluding connection tails. It consolidates multiple audio sources into a single control point for the audio supervisor.

The unit is also well suited to MCR environments, where the central technical hub of a broadcast facility manages and monitors incoming and outgoing signals prior to transmission. In this role, it supports tasks such as signal quality control, playout coordination, and compliance monitoring.

At its core, the system supports up to 128 channels of simultaneous monitoring, combining 64 channels of Dante AoIP* and 64 channels of MADI. Two modular expansion slots enable support for additional sources in any combination. Expansion options include 8-channel analogue inputs, 8 stereo digital inputs (16 channels), and up to 64 channels of de-embedded audio from 12G-SDI, allowing the system to be tailored to specific workflow requirements.

A 6.6-inch colour touchscreen, paired with rotary encoders, delivers fast and intuitive control. It supports up to 64 channels of visual monitoring per source, with a streamlined interface that allows you to swipe left or right to move quickly between sources. Individual channel selection via the rotary encoder ensures precise control when building monitor mixes from any source, with a press-and-hold function for soloing. A double press brings up a detailed meter view with enlarged level displays for faster and clearer monitoring. A swipe-up gesture reveals user-defined metering groups, enabling easy access to multi-source monitoring or critical channel groupings. Up to 26 pages of metering groups can be created and named, with quick access via the “Favourites” menu for fast and efficient recall.

Parametric and graphic EQ settings are available through the on-screen menu for quick and precise audio adjustment. The parametric EQ offers five fully adjustable bands on a logarithmic scale, plus high- and low-shelf filters for overall tone shaping. The 15-band graphic EQ has five user-saveable presets, built-in factory curves and a high-pass and low-pass filter.

Integrated front-panel speakers with machined grilles deliver accurate acoustics, while ported enclosures maximise performance within the compact 1U form factor. External analogue/digital outputs on professional Neutrik XLR connectors provide the flexibility to add local or remote speakers, while 3.5 mm and quarter-inch headphone jacks allow reliable on-ear monitoring in noisy environments.

A built-in front-panel microphone provides convenient talkback routing over the AoIP network, with mic control (open/close) available directly on the unit, via the web GUI, or through Ember+.

In addition, six AoIP channels can be routed from the unit, mirroring the stereo analogue and digital line outputs, headphones, and integrated speakers. This allows monitored audio to be carried over the network for group listening or further audio processing.

Full web GUI access enables system management from anywhere, making the unit well suited to OB trucks, control rooms, and distributed facilities. Configurable GPIO ports and a voltage-free relay contact enable seamless integration with external systems.

The unit has dual network ports that can operate in switched or redundant modes, as well as dual SFP ports for fibre connectivity. Redundant power inputs, supporting both AC mains and 12V DC, operate with automatic switchover.

To summarise, integrated speakers, headphone amplification, and external outputs ensure professional audio performance, while redundant power and network connectivity provide dependable operation in mission-critical environments.
