The AVN-DIO20 is a MADI and AES3 to Dante bridging device allowing MADI to connect bidirectionally with AoIP, together with 8 stereo channels of AES3.

AVN-DIO20

Dante® to MADI AES3 64 Channel I/O Converter

The AVN-DIO20 is a MADI and AES3 to Dante bridging device that enables bidirectional connection between MADI and AoIP, alongside 8 stereo AES3 channels. This plug-and-play interface provides a quick and convenient method for integrating legacy MADI equipment into a Dante audio network.

The unit accepts a MADI input, sample rate converts all 64 channels, and places them onto the network, where routing is managed via Dante Controller. At the same time, it receives 64 channels from the network, optionally applies sample rate conversion, and outputs them as MADI.

It also supports 8 stereo AES3 inputs, which are mapped onto the network and replace 16 selected MADI input channels. Additionally, 8 stereo AES3 outputs can be sourced from network channels in blocks of 16.

MADI input is available via either a compatible SFP module or a coaxial BNC connection. Input selection can be configured through the web GUI, or defaults to the SFP when present. The BNC output is disabled while the SFP is in use. An automatic failover mode enables seamless switching to the BNC input if the SFP signal is lost, ensuring glitch-free redundancy. The MADI output can be clocked either from the network (bypassing output SRC) or from the recovered MADI input clock.

Audio and power are delivered via the EtherCON® connection. Primary and secondary ports provide power and data redundancy, supporting PoE for simplified installation. Front panel LEDs indicate network clock, primary and secondary link status, PoE power activity, AES3 input lock (8 channels), and active MADI input presence, all for clear operational monitoring. The unit incorporates Audinate Dante chipsets and is compliant with AES67 and Dante Domain Manager. A built-in web interface allows access to device configuration, network settings, status monitoring, and firmware updates.

Like all Sonifex DIO interfaces, it provides a simple plug-and-play solution for connecting analogue and digital audio equipment to Dante networks, with configuration handled via Dante Controller. It is housed in a rugged aluminium enclosure with provisions for desk mounting, and an optional accessory, AVN-DIORK, allows multiple units to be installed on a 19″ rack-mount shelf.
